Sounding On

Fantastic news, as we have made our first ever audio-only clip!

In conjunction with h2g2's The Post, the Aviators have come up with a radio play. We based it on a story that had been published a few months before, and it was a considerable amount of work. First of all, Mina scripted the piece for audio and gave each section of dialogue a unique name. She sent it out to our actors - Mu Beta read the part of Peter, Lil the nurse, and EMR provided narration - and, once recorded, 2legs sequenced up the individual lines, balanced the volume levels and added background music.

The result, which you can listen to on the Beeblecast, has gone down terrifically well with the community, and we're hoping to create more audio for you in the very near future.

Huge thanks to everyone involved, particularly to 2legs, whose efforts led to him being the third person to be awarded the official h2g2 Aviators badge.

h2g2 Aviators Goes Live!

Welcome to h2g2aviators.com, the new home for the Aviators on the web!

We've been talking a lot recently about taking the Aviators forward. It's one thing to be able to host our video clips on YouTube, but what about everything else we could do with AV? What about audio clips? Podcasting and RSS feeds? How about giving our musicians the credit they deserve?

We could quite easily have ended up with half a dozen 'homes' on the Internet, each hosting a different bit of what we do. That would have been far less than ideal. What we really needed was our own home; somewhere we could do all the things we wanted to do with the Aviators without the limits other sites impose.

Incredibly, a fortnight after we first discussed the idea, here we are. That is thanks chiefly to TRiG, who has put up with a million stupid questions from me to get some incredibly complicated stuff working. I can't explain what he's done exactly, because I don't understand most of it at all. It's a bit like getting into a Ferrari - I imagine, somewhat wistfully - I don't understand what goes on under the bonnet, but I know it does the job superbly and with the minimum of hassle.

There's all sorts on here; we've got RSS feeds for you to subscribe to to see and hear the latest AV as it happens, you can download any of our content to your PC and finally our musicians can take the plaudits with their own dedicated stream as well.

Take a look round, and we hope you enjoy the fruits of our labours.
